DAY 9: PRAYER FOR DIVINE REVELATION AND THANKSGIVING
Heavenly Father, we bow our hearts to you and pray. We give you thanks for all you’ve done, especially for the gift of your son Jesus Christ. For the beauty of nature, for your grace to complete this mid-year prayers and for the day you have given us; may it bring joy and sanctification to our souls in Jesus name. Amen.

FIRST READING
“Now let me die, since I have seen your face.”
A reading from the Book of Genesis (Genesis 46:1-7.2b-30)

In those days: Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here am I.” Then he said, “I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt; for I will there make of you a great nation. I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again; and Joseph’s hand shall close your eyes.” Then Jacob set out from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. They also took their cattle and their goods, which they had gained in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him, his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters; all his offspring he brought with him into Egypt. He sent Judah before him to Joseph, to appear before him in Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen. Then Joseph made ready his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen; and he presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.”

R/. From the Lord comes the salvation of the just.



Trust in the Lord and do good;
Then you will dwell in the land and safely pasture.
Find your delight in the Lord,

The Lord takes note of the days of the blameless;
their heritage will last forever.
They shall not be put to shame in evil days;
in time of famine they shall have their fill. R.

R/. From the Lord comes the salvation of the just.

Then turn away from evil and do good,
and you may abide forever;

GOSPEL
“It is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father.”
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 10: 16-23)

At that time: Jesus said to his apostles, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you up, do not be anxious about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death; and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes.

Today’s Reflection

Jesus foresees and foretells the moments of trial and suffering for his disciples. He cautions them to be prepared for the worst scenario. There will be an atmosphere of hatred, betrayal and even death, as he sends them out “like sheep among wolves.” He reminds them: “You will be universally hated on account of my name.” However, he also assures them of the power of the Holy Spirit, guiding them, speaking for them, and empowering them. Anyone who stands firm in the face of trials will be saved. Even today persecution of various kinds is a reality. One can explain the bravery and confidence of the missionaries only from the point of view of faith and trust in the assurance of Christ: “Do not worry about how to speak or what to say … the spirit of your father will be speaking in you.”

Opening
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Invocation of the Holy Spirit
Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray:
O God, who taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the gift of the same Spirit we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation, Through Christ Lord. Amen.

Father, we thank you for this opportunity to renew our strength in you and to rededicate our life to your service, look kindly on use and grant us your mercies, that we may enjoy the remaining part of the year and beyond in peace in the name of Jesus.

May the gains of this program be our portion in the name of Jesus.

Prayer of Confirmation and trust in God
Lord, God Almighty, I thank you for protecting me from every form of evil and bringing me the gift of your divine health.
I thank you for breaking the chains of oppression and delivering me from every form of sin, sickness, disease and lie of the enemy.

I thank you for the powerful name of Jesus to which every knee shall bow.
Thank you for giving me your authority over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall harm me.

Thank you for your full armor, your name, your most precious Blood and your Holy Spirit. No weapon formed against me shall prosper.
Thank you heavenly father for all your protection and provisions, for yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, now and forevermore. Amen.
