SS PHILIP AND JAMES, AP. (FEAST)
Today the Church celebrates the feast of two apostles, Philip and James. Their relics are kept together in the Church of the Twelve Apostles in Rome and, from the day of its dedication in 565, these two apostles have been celebrated together. Philip came from Bethsaida, on the shore of the Lake of Galilee. He was a disciple of John the Baptist and later became an apostle of Jesus. James, son of Alphaeus and cousin of the Lord, ruled the Church of Jerusalem, and probably authored the letter we find in the New Testament. I would remind you, brethren, in what terms I preached to you the gospel, which you received, in which you stand, by which you are saved, if you hold it fast — unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

At that time: Jesus said to Thomas, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; henceforth you know him and have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you do not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Today's Reflection (Homily of the Word)
St Paul affirms that the truth of the resurrection of Christ is indubitable. It is the climax of our Christian faith and the fount of the hope of our salvation. Our personal belief in this divine reality must also be rooted in our own personal encounter with the risen Christ in the sacraments. It is in this personal encounter that for us Christ becomes the way, the truth and the life. Therefore our Christian faith must always have a personal dimension which creates room for a personal encounter with God. This divine intimacy can be strengthened by pious devotion to Blessed Virgin Mary, the saints, and daily meditations.
Blessing For the New Week
Heavenly Father, I woke up this morning with joy in my heart for the many blessings you have bestowed on me. Thank you for all you have done and may Everything in me give glory to your name.
Let your Holy Spirit be my guide and help as this new day begins, and may I do good to all who come around me with the good you have given me.
Keep me safe from harm. Bless my family, friends, well wishers and all those who are seriously in need of your help and may this day and this new week be favourable to us. Plant me like a tree by the streams of water, may I yield abundance of fruits and may the works of my hand prosper (Psalm 1). Open my heart so that I will hear your word and obey your commandments.
Good morning dearest friend. May your hardwork in this new week bring you multiple blessings and favours. Amen. May Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Personal Devotional: Day 3 May Devotion
Our Mother Mary knew who Jesus is and she did not doubt that He could do something to change any difficult situation that is brought to Him in prayer.
She has shown us example at the wedding at Cana in Galilee that we should not be afraid to approach Jesus in prayer no matter the need we have, but we must have faith to believe that He can do something for us. Therefore, we must be people of faith who will always take our matter to Jesus in prayer trusting that He will answer us. Our Mother Mary can help us to connect to Jesus if we asked her for help.
